Coffee is part of many people's regular routine. Additionally, coffee shops serve as a workspace for some people as it promotes creative cognition due to the noise found in them. That is to say, a cup of coffee can serve as the beginning of a creative process, but how are creativity and coffee really linked?

HOW COFFEE AFFECTS THE BRAIN

When we drink coffee, caffeine goes to the brain and when it is active, neurons fire adenosine. When adenosine levels increase, it is the brain's signal that it is time to take a break.

What caffeine does is block adenosine receptors, thus increasing our energy and improving concentration.

COFFEE AND CREATIVITY

Creative ideas usually occur when we let our mind wander to something unrelated. Because coffee keeps us focused, our minds don't have the chance to wander, but it helps us develop creative ideas.

COFFEE AND ALCOHOL AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH CREATIVITY

Many people associate creativity with coffee and alcohol. This is because when you drink alcohol, you feel more relaxed and less worried about the environment around you and that, according to a study from the University of Chicago, increases the ability to solve problems creatively. Therefore, if you want to find the best idea, beer is better, but if you want to carry out those ideas, coffee is better. Keep in mind that moderation is very important, and overusing them can lose the benefits that both have.

THE COFFEE RITUAL

For many of us, coffee is a ritual and can be essential to foster and enhance creativity. If you want to continue helping creativity you can also do other activities. For example, going for a walk, going to the movies, reading or meeting someone and coming to visit us.
